Google Stadia pricing, subscription details and launch titles leaked - Destructoid

Canadian newspaper La Presse, following a pre-briefing event, has released pricing and other details pertaining to streaming gaming platform Google Stadia, ahead of the official reveal scheduled for later this morning. By way of Kotaku, here are some of the headlines from the original article (which as of this writing is currently offline.)

According to La Presse, Google Stadia will launch in November with a base subscription rate of $11.99 CAD per month (or roughly $8.99 USD). This will allow access to some of Stadia's launch library, which can be played at 4K resolution/60FPS/5.1 Surround. This service will require 35mbps connection. Some of the games included in the Google Stadia library, particularly newer titles, will still need to be purchased outright.

A "Founder's Edition" is expected to launch this Fall for $127 USD. This edition will include a Chromecast Ultra, one Stadia controller, a three-month subscription to the service and a copy of sci-fi shooter Destiny 2. Buyers will also receive the opportunity to bag their chosen username early. Pre-orders for the Founder's Edition are open right now.

In 2020, Google will launch an entirely free version of Stadia known as "Stadia Base", which will require all games to be purchased individually. This service will lock game resolution to 1080p only.

On the technical side, the minimum internet speed required for Stadia is 10mbps download/1mbps upload. The launch library is expected to include Doom, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2 and the recent Tomb Raider trilogy.

Obviously, none of this has come from Google themselves, but with the official reveal of the Stadia's services less than 90 minutes away, we'll have confirmation of the official details soon. Stay tuned.
