“My goal is to be like, I woke up like this, and I didn’t really try that hard,” says Sofia Richie of her effortless makeup routine. The model has naturally picked up more than a few beauty tricks over the years, including some seasoned skin care advice from her product-obsessed dad, Lionel Richie.
First step, cleanser. “I have very sensitive skin,” Richie explains, which is why she picks up Dr. Lancer’s light moisturizer. “He is my family dermatologist and I’ve been going to him since I was 13.” Then, after a light spritz of rose water, Richie dabs on a tinted primer and gets to work on her undereye area. “If I’m going to a shoot, I will wake up and drive with these all the way to the shoot until I get into the makeup chair,” she says of her hydrating eye patches.
“I wear sunscreen every single day,” she professes while patting on an SPF ahead of her makeup routine. The first step is a concoction of foundation—Bobbi Brown and Becca—pressed in with a Beauty Blender, then a few strokes of undereye concealer set with a translucent powder. “Let me just dump this all over my face,” she jokes of her favorite glow-inducing bronzer, Chanel, followed by a fuchsia-colored blush.
For naturally lit-from-within skin, Richie swipes an iridescent highlighter over the bridge of her nose and tops of cheekbones. “I love doing eyebrows,” she explains as she fills in and brushes her set. Moving on to her eyes, the blonde beauty switches between light brown and taupe tones to define her lids. “It took me years to find a mascara that worked for me,” she reveals of her tried and true find, a waterproof Maybelline formula. “I’ve been using this for years and will never use another mascara ever.”
While she gets skin care advice from her dad, Richie has found makeup inspiration watching her mother. “My favorite part of her makeup routine was watching her do lips,” she says while defining her pout with a flesh-toned pencil. Next up, a dab of liquid lipstick and swipe of lip gloss. “I’m a gloss girl,” she says. “I think a plump glossy lip looks sexy on me.”
“My dad probably gets his nails, his hair, and gets facials more than me,” Richie jokes of her superstar father. “So I aspire to be like him.” As for Mr. Richie’s best-kept beauty secrets? “My beauty regime is sleep and water!” he explains, popping into frame.
