Kirsten Dunst's first Golden Globe nomination was at age 12, so it's safe to say the star knows a thing or two about red carpet beauty. This year, she's scored her third nom, this time for her starring turn in On Becoming a God in Central Florida. We can't predict who will take home the trophy tonight, but we do know that Dunst's hair is absolutely not getting stuck to her lipstick on the red carpet, thanks to her makeup artist Mary Wiles. Ahead of showtime, Allure spoke with Wiles for all the details about Dunst's Golden Globes look — including the special tricks that makes this look Los Angeles-breeze proof.
Tonight's beauty look is based on Dunst's soft pink, ethereal lace gown, which beautifully complements the simple makeup. "We wanted the beauty look to feel very modern and simple," says Wiles. "More runway, not so red carpet. We wanted to look clean, beautiful, and classic, but modern at the the same time."
Wiles started by prepping Dunst's skin, she says, "because you don't want to struggle with makeup on skin that's dry". She starts off by layering on "lots of serum," then spends "quite a lot of time" doing facial massage around the eyes, on the cheekbones, and down to the neck, to help the product sink in and bring a rosy glow to the surface.
